Description of program: Baby Boost is a home visitation program for low income, first time moms under the age of 22. Home visitors provide education, support and referrals to families in Randolph County. We partner with Parents as Teachers (PAT).

Population served: Must be pregnant or have a child 3 months or younger for program entry. Must be a first time parent under the age of 22.

Eligibility guidelines: Medicaid or WIC

Services are free.

Program is funded through state and federal grants and community donations.

Hours & Days service is offered Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Family support worker will do a "global assessment" upon entry into the program.

Referrals are offered for community and health services.

The vision of the Baby Boost Program is to provide education and support to new parents prenatally, at birth and in the months and years thereafter, to give their child the best possible start in life.

Baby Boost will help families to strengthen the parent-child relationship by improving parenting skills, reducing family stress, and meeting the needs of the parents. Goals of the Program are to:

  • To assess the strengths and needs of new parents and refer them to community services as needed.
  • Build trusting nurturing relationships
  • Teach problem solving skills
  • Improve the families support system
  • Strengthening family relations and promote family unity
  • Promote positive health habits of parents.
  • Promote positive parent-child relationships
  • Promote healthy childhood growth and development.

Home Visit program includes:

  • family assessments
  • family support
  • periodic screening of overall development, language, hearing and vision

Registered Nurses, Family Support Worker and Parents as Teachers (PAT) provide services.
