|
![]() Randolph County Health Department's Board of Trustees voted during their March 2005 meeting to become a smoke-free premises as of June 1st, 2005. Medical evidence clearly shows that smoking is a significant health risk to those who smoke. There is equally clear evidence that those individuals who do not smoke when exposed to second-hand smoke are at a significantly increased risk from exposure to that smoke. Employees who smoke will be given the opportunity to participate in smoking cessation support programs. This expanded policy will help to protect and improve the health of staff and clients including children, pregnant women and visitors. It will also set an example for other health agencies and workplaces and businesses.
