IN HOME SERVICES

Baby Boost

Baby Boost is a voluntary program for pregnant families and infants initially up to 3 months old who may need additional support measures, (i.e. multiple births, lack of family support, disabilities.) If they qualify, family support workers, family support nurses, social workers, WIC and Parents as Teachers work together to visit the family and assist them in solving problems and learning appropriate parenting skills. The program has a current capacity of 25 families in the county. Funding is through the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services.

Time for Tots

Time for Tots is a program for financially eligible stay-at-home parents of children under 3 years of age. Family support workers and parent educators visit monthly. Referrals for the program come from Parents as Teachers. The program has a capacity of 35 families. Funding is provided from the Missouri Department of Social Services.

Home Health Services

Nursing Visits: Provided to homebound patients with a need for skilled nursing services that are private pay, private insurance, Medicare, Medicaid insurance reimbursable to the agency. These patients are recertified every 60 days as to their condition and homebound status. Physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and medical social worker services are available. Nurses are on call for consultation on a 24 hour/7 day basis by pager or mobile telephone. Services are offered in Randolph, Chariton, Monroe, Boone Macon, and Shelby counties.

Home Health Aides: Available to assist in bed baths, ambulation, linen changes, and checking vital signs.

Public Health Visits: Nursing visits to patients in their homes. This can be for almost any medically or socially related problem. Nurses can assess the need of all patients every 60 days. Patients who are able to get out of their homes are encouraged to come to the health department for services unless there are significant barriers to travel. Each client is handled on a case by case basis but the goal is to prevent further illness and disease and to attempt to restore self-reliance and normal function.

The health department does reserve the right to accept public health referrals with the understanding that clients may transfer to home health services that are reimbursable from time to time. Referrals for public health should come from the client, or family, social services or a physician. The health department may choose not to accept a referral from another home health agency when reimbursement has run out on the client. It should be the responsibility of the agency of care for the clients they have accepted for care and not practice abandonment. Open to Randolph County residents only.
